Most may have seen the possum belly bakers table with porcelain top I am picking up this Friday. (Shared photo on another thread) It is 31" tall...and many suggested an adjustable table which it is not. The possum belly drawer is metal lined with a divider. Figured maybe bonsai soil...in it. Some organic for my bougainvilleas and non-organic for other types of bonsai.

Looks to me...I can loosen the top and make it a turntable as well as adjust the height.

Looks like some great material. The stool is probably still going to need a turntable of some sort don't you think? I hate to add this but I have a porcelain top table that looks to be the same size as yours in my attic. It doesn't have the "pot belly" drawer and needs paint but if we lived a little closer I would have given it to you. It's been there for 10 or 12 years and doesn't look like I'll be using it. Oh well..

If you look...the top of the stand has a knob you tighten under it where it connects to the bar you raise... So if loose would it not turn? A top could easily be added though. But I hope not...love the aged feel of it. It has tons of character.

As for the possum belly drawer...if you notice the bottom drawer has a curved front bottom in the photo of it pulled out. If not...we will leave it at the antique store and keep looking. Unless I fall for it anyways. And that was sweet of you to offer the table had we lived closer.

oh yeah, I see the knob you're talking about. Looks like it should allow the top to spin freely. I'll need to keep an eye out for one of them. Hopefully, that drawer will open properly. Most of the ones I've seen are either lined with tin or the whole bottom part of the drawer is tin. Great place for your soil I assume? The room is going to look great for sure.

;) That's the plan...I asked about the condition of the drawers. Said no reason I couldn't use it daily good working order. We shall see.

Looks like a great find! Congrats!!!

I love that stool/turntable. Only thing I can think of as possible problem is the narrow leg spread IF you put a big and off center tree on it. It may need to be made more stable if that is the case. Otherwise, it is perfect!

It looks so cool as it is, I do not want to (permanently) change a thing about it though. Maybe mount a round plastic chopping board on top you can remove later if need be?

The base is heavy cast iron. Worse caseI keep it for shohin bonsai. Buying a bonsai adjustable table later for larger.materials.
Right now nothing to big...so I should be okay.

That table is looks much better than the one I repurposed last weekend from some discarded kitchen table legs and 2 pallets. I like the large drawer on bottom for soil.

Re: the table...what I re-purposed as my work station is an old mechanic's tool chest. Love all the drawers and having most of my supply and tools within an arms reach.

Not the most convenient since I cannot put my legs under but I still love it. Won't replace it with anything (except a better tool chest :D )

I love repurposing things. So...you could use the pallets like an inside shelf for tools and such right? Pallet furniture is so in right now too! Would LOVE to see others repurposed items as well. Please share photos of them.

My hope...is to stabilize the cutting board if it comes out. By having a piece of wood attached to the back so it can't come out. We shall see if it can be done. Then I could use it to place things when working on bonsai.

That might be a good spot for a regular flat turntable honest. The Heavy one you have looks awesome although I would mount it to a wider wood base as a caution. Either way cool finds.

Good idea... And thanks!

Asked my antique friend about the stool. She said it was not a milking stool...and highly doubts a piano bench. Her friend said she felt the only reason for the top to loosen and tighten...was for making it a turn table...holes to drain...maybe pottery table? Who knows...I may send a photo to Country Sampler. They have a page dedicated to old unknown articles...people send in pictures... they try and find information about it and share unique finds in their magazine.

Think I may have figured it out. Mine is missing the wooden legs I bet. Which is fine...I don't need a tall stool. But...I might be able to take what I have and add it to a wooden base as Grimmy suggested if I need to stabilize it. Since it's only part there anyways I won't feel bad changing the appearance of it.

Drawers work great! Possum belly drawer is metal with wooden divider.

I would highly suggest if there is plumbing in place to possibly position as such to allow for a sink in the warm months, could be a simple galvanized or wood water trough

Can we say...LOVE...the stand or what I think the top off an antique drafting chair arrived. The patina is beyond what I expected...and it works just as I had hoped it wood. Squealing like a school girl.
