Repotting Too Late?

Didn't get to my trident soon enough. Repotted it today. Took off about 20-25% of the roots. Will this late repotting be an issue? Should i prune off some of the opening buds? It also has a 5' leader to thicken it up.

Nope :). You could have removed way more than 25%... like 75%... and the tree wouldn't skip a beat.
 
Tridents are like the energizer bunny. Takes a liken and keeps on tickin.
Only tree I have ever had that needed to be repotted every year and doesnt care
 
Agree with the others. There's nowhere near enough leaf area on that tree yet to stress the roots after repot. I've done tridents and other species with leaves more advanced that that one.
