I picked up a nice trunked Privet at a local nursery here in Texas.

It’s regularly 80s-90 degrees right now. Its pushing some newer growth currently.

It is root bound and definitely not growing as strong as it should.

Is it too late to repot this privet? Are they tough enough to handle some root reduction?

Thanks for any advice! Never had a privet before.

When I moved into my current house, we had several privets in the landscape. My wife hates privets. I got some out in Feb/March, and got around to the last ones in June. June here is 100 F +. All lived, and now I can't tell the difference between them. I once potted up a privet that had been ripped out with a chain and a pickup, and was in a dumpster for a week. It lived too.

So, not ideal, but they'll probably survive the collection. Yes they can handle hard root reduction.

Okay thats great news! It always helps to have a tough species lol
