Procumbens Nana #1

Looks really good and healthy.
Nice trunk on that one.
I'd agree that it looks like time to do some thinning.

Nice! Finding ones with tons of thicker branching is perfect. The movement in the trunk is there after removing select branches. You did great on this one! Looks like a nice chunky shohin in comparison to the can.

Filling out, probably close to time for some cut-backs/thinning? What do you think @Japonicus?

Yes thin some but considering you're repotting next year no cut backs.
Another possibility, heat considered, is late Summer repot with no thinning now.
I'm digging those runners.
What is your fertilizer program?

Also, I've been experimenting with Spring thinning. I still feel that beginning in July, scissors and pruners work best with less down time (down time meaning slower growth slower filling back in slower back budding).

I gave it some Osmocote at the beginning of the year, but now I'm using tea bags with Holly Tone (considering I'm watering everything with city water).

Will be starting with some fish emulsion for most things soon as well (I've just been too busy with kids and work to hand mix and water things lately).

Very nice progression. I got one I'm just growing out so I'm checking out others that know style. Very nice.

Stellar trunk can be complete with two simple tweaks:

Or a really gutsy move:

The trunk has tremendous potential and it’s nearly complete in curvy shape. Minor tweaks and it’s done

Beautiful. This tree is a great example of how nice procumbens can be if attacked properly. Amazing the growth youre getting in each season. How old do you think it was when you got it?

No idea. The sign at Home Depot said "500 year old pre-bonsai stock" but I'm not sure I trust it! 🧐🤔😂

Looks super healthy Joe!
