Potentilla collection!

this story does not have a good ending. This tree died, I have not had as much luck with this species as I would like. I still plan to dream up some nice collections but I honestly need to figure out how to properly grow them first!

Potentilla is iffy with the roots. Best collecting I have seen involved a fairly large rootball and over multiple years carefull well-planned reduction of the rootball.
 
I am sticking to nursery pots on these guys from what I read on them i didn't want to move them to the ground. I really do like the growth habits, flowers, and bark of potentilla though. Managed to find a nursery stock tree with only 2 trunks which I find rare, usually they plant a clump of them. They are very fast growers but seems the trunks thicken slowly considering the amount of growth they put on.

yup. THis one has been in full ground 40-50 years before someone dug it.
