Internet Explorer is intergrated into the "core" of Windows operating system. "Uncle Bill" spent a couple of years in court trying to explain why it could not be removed. I think it was NetScape crying it was not fair to the market and took MS to court. In the end they did not have to remove it. So although FireFox, Google Chrome may work for some sites, it is best to stay with Internet Explorer.. just my opinion, if you like the others that is fine too. I say the above to explain what you may be seeing with the "update" mentioned. In the past when MS did updates it would Pause and ask to do a Interent Explorer update, because it is/was such a big part of the OS. A few months ago they updated from IE 9 to IE 10 without asking if you wanted it or not. And if you go look at the "Help" about you will see a check in the box to auto install any future IE versions. It caused Big Problems for some sites, like passwords not working, some software uses the IE browser interface to run their program, it was not happy. MS stopped pushing it out auto for awhile, but just last week the did the same auto push of IE 11. You can uninstall 10 and 11, it will take you back to 9. Then download and run the Block IE10 /IE11 from MS to block them. (not sure how to unblock as I have not had to but I sure you can if needed)
Block IE10

Block IE11

To Uninstall the IE10 or 11 go to (Win 7) Windows Update, bottom left corner, click on "Installed Updates" and scroll down to almost the bottom to find the IE, select and uninstall
Once you get back to IE9 (or your existing IE10/IE11) go to "Tools" on the menu bar and click "Compatibilty View" when you are on Bonsai Nut site, this will help with sites that may were not built around the new browser.
I have been on dial-up here for years so I had updates turned off, we just got satellite but I did not turn on the update. Most (just my opinion, you do what you feel best) updates are for Security leaks that MS found were someone could hack into the pc, not much on my pc to get.
Hope this Helps!
