So I just happened to notice this...

I've seen people under 100 posts with "seedling" status
I have 180+ posts, I'm a "mame" under my avatar....
I've seen people 400+ that are "shohin"

I just saw someone with 60+ posts labeled as "yamadori"?????

I thought yamadori were venerable old mountain trees, and would therefor be related to a higher post count???
Like somewhere between Omono and Imperial Masterpiece??

Just curious, how does the scale work around here?

If you look at he upward progression on the Members list from bottom to top it actually makes sense. It goes from smaller to larger in size and progression.

It's just a "cute feature" of the software and bears no relationship to the ability or experience of anyone here who posts.

If you look at the list the Title is changed in a predefined order. The more you post the takes you from Seedling to Imperial Masterpiece at his time. I suspect when someone hits 10k there will be another title above that. In my game forum we predetermine the progressive ranking the same way.
You are correct though in that it has nothing to do with ability or experience.

Yep it means nothing except an indication of how many posts you have. I generally pay no attention to it with regard to someone's experience or knowledge of bonsai.

So a newbie can be an "Imperial Master" just by posting continuous nonsense about his "trees" dying and how he wants to have a zillion trees, one of every cultivar, grow moss from spores he collected, make Bonsai out of eggplant or tomatoes and argue with any advice or guidance provided by real masters. Be careful from whom you take advice my friend.

Fighting should turn you into "stick in a pot" for a penalty!

"Foemina Juniper" for non obvious sarcasm.

So far, all the Imperials are True IMO, and to my knowledge.

It has been, is, and will be done every day here. Just don't follow the first advice you are given here. Let the rest of us discover that answer and give our OhMyGod! responses as a warning. Then. totally ignore the flames that follow as the original replier's responses begin.

Because it can be so misleading, TBH I think the status thing should just be turned off.

They had tv adds around here a couple of years ago for a bonsai potato.

LOL, Ive got the same status as you.
I have no idea what the hell omono is.....
Probably means "jackass" in Japanese
