Plant poachers

I'd love a white pine too in you're taking orders ;)
I'll be going when buds start to swell. A couple weeks from now probably.
I don't do white pines.
Japanese probably wouldn't make it through winter here and eastern white pines are pretty much useless.
I'm going to check up on tamaracks today. They may be getting close.
The snow just receded here Wednesday so there's a little time.

wow! could be a bnut meet up! when are you going and how far up MI would i have to drive? dunno if it could happen for me right away because i have a new 2 week old but I'd be interested!

It's at least three hours for me, probably closer to six or seven for you.
That's a heck of a drive to go look at some decrepit nursery stock.

some decrepit nursery stock.
The fact that you know nothing shows in that post.
Have you seen these trees?
I think not.
Do you know what happens when a nursery is abandoned?
When a Christmas tree farm goes under?
Once again I don't think you have any idea.
I would school you but I've more old decrepit trees to look for collection.
I hope they aren't too old and twisted and decrepit.
Because bonsai aren't any of those.
could be a bnut meet up!
I would do that.
It's 3 hours or more to the Ohio border from here.
If you're serious send me a p.m. and we can work something out.
Be prepared to see trees for as far as the eye can see. I took another member once collecting. He came up from the Flint area. He couldn't believe how far you can travel without seeing a house or another person.

I will look at the next couple weeks and check my schedule. Right now I'm unsure if I'll be able to swing it. Are the trees going to sit there for the next couple years or be cleared out, or is it to be determined?

tamaracks would be cool. Don't have any yet. Don't wait on my to go though!

Ooh, salty.
Your inferiority complex is showing.

Hey, if driving seven hours to dig up trees rubs your Buddha, that's fine and dandy. It's practically a guarantee that you'll find something good, because that's what happens when semi-potted plants survive years without care. It's just, what, seven or eight hours to drive up there, several hours to take your pick and dig them up, some more time to package things for travel, and then another seven hours back? It's not exactly a brief outing most folks can do whenever they care to.

Er...

The first post was about "plant poachers".

Not about collecting trees or stealing "bonsai": there are already hundreds of posts on those topics.

"rockm" posted about a different topic.

It's about preserving the environment and how aware we can be about it, and most of the replies have about "personal property": collecting, securing, not preserving.

Taking, making one's own.

Do you really think this can last long?

Hey, don't shoot me, remember what the "goodbook" said "the meek shall inherit". The shit.
