Pine ID help please?

Thanks guys, it hasn't started recovery yet. It was slip pot into a container surrounded by potting soil now. I will just leave it as is, drank a few beers and watch those vids.

Finally the question.... This weekend I plan on anchoring it down, but should I also bare root and plant in 100% NAPA DE when I do this?

No.
It was just collected.
It needs to stay just like it is for at least a year.
Also. Don't bareroot it when you do.
You can wash all dirt off of deciduous trees but not vociferous.
I see people trying to get the go ahead to report out of anything that they think isn't bonsai type soil.
I have trees in nothing but the pure sand they were growing on at time of collection.
One will be going on it's third year in it.

I was just asking because of an article I read where Walter Pall mentioned having to bare root them ASAP. No worries. I'm just going to let it recover.

Well guys..... I don't think any recovery is starting. Could be due to not being in full sun as I moved it to an area that doesn't get quite as much all day sun. Probably getting worse. Should I cut all the brown out and move to full sun? Just leave it?

That is definitely a lack of recovery.

I too a have pine which is now showing me earthy fall colors like yours.

Be sure to take pictures. It usually only happens once to a pine.

So do you suggest just putting it into the sun as is? Or cutting the brown out?

Sun. Why not.

It doesn't even sound like you did much to it, but nonetheless, In your first pictures, the candles were limp. That was a bad omen.

When you are seeing brown like that, that is like flies on a corpse. The time for CPR was a long no time ago.

All your new growth is dying. I'm guessing the first photos were right after collection? It was collected too late, unfortunately. Survival is doubtful. Leave it alone and don't over-water. Don't put it in all-day sun. You can try misting the foliage a few times a day, but I doubt that the roots are going to recover.
