The big yard spruce looks very sick to me.
It might recover if you keep after it with whatever spray you might need to alleviate the problem, and if you don't mind looking at it in the meantime. Trees in that condition are hard to bring back to acceptable condition IMO.do u think it can recover?
There is quite a bit of new growth on the ones i took
I guess its turning out to be a boondoggle afterall. Lol
i sprayed it with lime sulphur. hopefully that fixes it.It might recover if you keep after it with whatever spray you might need to alleviate the problem, and if you don't mind looking at it in the meantime. Trees in that condition are hard to bring back to acceptable condition IMO.
And you are quite correct, way to sparse, but as long as you are having fun and learning something it's ok. What is Lime Sulphur supposed to do and what are you trying to kill with it? Don't you live near a forest where you can go out and collect native trees. You say Vancouver. Is that Wa. or BC.?any opinions on this? i guess it's too sparse.
needle cast. the way these were being grown did not seem good. all jammed together, no space at all.And you are quite correct, way to sparse, but as long as you are having fun and learning something it's ok. I looked up how to treat needle cast and the article mentions several well known fungicides that will do the job if you are persistent, and along with that, clean up any fallen needles to cut down the spread of the fungus. The article also said it could take several years or more of care to get the job done. Good luck with the project.needle cast. the way these were being grown did not seem good. all jammed together, no space at all.
I don't know the best time to chop a spruce like you want to do, but probably spring and it better be really healthy. The last one. do you think it would survive a trunk chop?
I 'm thinking i may as well try to make a cascade or something.
Tree in photo is a juniper. I would have taken the most screwed up, twisted, gnarly trees from that 10$ pile. These seem to lack trunk interest to me.
Well, without seeing the actual trees who knows. Im just saying go for the best trunks.i was thinking about it. they looked really unhealthy tho.
