Off with its tubes! šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø

Here we are, 6 months later. The little ficus is still growing strong. Other than the garbage can (I know some of yā€™all wanna say it šŸ¤£) what would look good on this little guy. I dig the little aerial root that grew over the course of the summer.

Iā€™m thinking of taking off the side without the aerial root and change the planting angle. Thoughts or ideas?

Good idea for the chop. It sort of looks like a goal post now. In the summer I would cut the remaining branch way back. You could get a lot of cuttings.

Thats what at I was thinking Carol, great minds think alike.

Does anyone know if the ginseng ficus propagates from root cuttings? I guess we will see.
Honestly, I can't say for certain. However, assuming it's strong and vigorous, I don't see why it wouldn't. I have propagated so many ficus from my original host ginseng (also from Lowes, lol). It is one of the most prolific plants I have worked with. Pretty much every experiment I've thrown at them has worked. I would say you have above average odds of success. I'm also curious how it works out.
EDIT: Oops! I wasn't paying attention to the dates. Sorry about that, lol.

The root cutting idea was a failure. I donā€™t know if it was me or them but the tops molded eventually and they rotted. I really wasnā€™t very hopeful, but for educational purposes it was worth a try.

I've tried several times and never got F microcarpa root cuttings to grow.

I bagged this tree early January to grow aerial roots.

After two months I removed the bag to work on wiring to direct the roots where I want them to grow. The goal is to hide old fat roots with new thin roots.

I am also trying a different method of bagging it to see how it holds the humidity.

And hereā€™s one of the whole tree.
