This started as a salvage from lowes garbage bin last year. When I first repotted it I trimmed a little off it’s tubes. Now it’s time to chop more. It seems to like my soil mix and it’s grown decent roots.

I took about an inch and a half off the tubes. I tried to leave at least a few lateral roots on it. We will see how it responds in the coming weeks. It sits good in the pot now and in about 6 months I will finish off the tubes and get it in a shallower pot. I enjoy this little tree a lot more with those roots gone.

Does anyone know if the ginseng ficus propagates from root cuttings? I guess we will see.

My brother gave me a butt-ugly ficus like that. I chopped off the the tubes and although still kind of ugly, it did fine. It does have some aerial roots that redeem it somewhat.

Good to know, I accept this will never be anything other than an experiment but I’m ok with that.

Do you have any pics from where you first got this? I'm curious because I picked one up that seems very, very dry.

Can you ’take it to the office” as an excuse for its *ahem* absence?
I love how much hate these plants get 🤣

Sadly I do not have Pictures of this particular tree when I rescued it but it was potted similar to this one but dried out more. Give it a good drink and see how it does. Are the tubes soft and spongy on yours?

I'd say they are still a bit soft and spongy. I'll check when I get home. I've had it about a week and I've given it a couple of good waterings. It has zero leaves on it.

It may just be mad and sulking. These ficus are pretty tough cookies.

FINALLY!!! I found picture of a good looking ginseng ficus that should be left alone. If I saw this one for sale I would totally buy it. Them some good looking curves on them tubes!😂
