Hi,

Is this normal color for JWP? I planted these two in my front lawn. Their needle color looks yellow/green or light/green compared to the JWP in my backyard.

Thank you,

Jun

Its a bit hard to see, but it looks like it's just the old needles turning yellow. This is normal as the old needles will turn yellow and fall off each year.

It is normal for JWP to turn yellowish in fall and remain that way until spring (it is a mechanism for protecting photosystem 2 in the cold). However, yours appear quite a bit more yellow than normal in the pix. The fact that they are yellower than ones you have in your backyard would seem to indicate trouble. Of course, these could be a different variety that produces a lot more xanthophylls than the others and all is well. Either way, I don't know that there is a thing you can do other than wait and see.
