Newbie here!! Prostrata triple trunk Juniper

Hello D'Angelo. Nice to see a fellow Massachusetts resident. Both trees are very nice. In regards to the procumbens. Is that the huge tree that was in the corner, on the floor of the conifer greenhouse at NE Bonsai?

So you had your eye on it too!

Yes and no... when I was working there somewhat regularly, I would see that tree everytime. A few years back, the tree was temendously overgrown and had not been attended to for a while. Unfortunatley, the tree had lost much of the interior growth and actually was slowly declining. There was not enough time to take on such a huge task since there were thousand and thousands (as you know) of other trees and projects to be done. Everytime I saw it, I thought at some point I am going to get to that tree. I think I may have worked on it once to briefly clean it up. I thought man, If I could get in there to wire this entire tree, it might take forever, but it would be worth it.

Anyway, I noticed over the last year that someone had attended to it, probably Jun and I was happy. Now, I am happy to see that it has a good home and will be taken care of.

As far as styling. It is a nice piece of material. The overall silhouette needs to be reduced to pull it back into scale with the trunk. It has quite the horse shoe curve in the trunk. I am wondering if pulling some branches to mask certain parts of the trunk might be good. Maybe even pulling the curve tighter and creating a shari. either way. I look forward to seeing this tree in the future.

Yup,, Thats the big boy..lol...it is so good to see that it has a home. Do you have any ideas for this tree? Actually, you could leave it as it is now. It is a nice tree.

I hope it is ok.. I created a couple of virts.. Just some food for thought if you decide to refine this tree.

The first one is basically just reducing the silhouette of the tree and adding some jin and shari. The second one entails removing the top and right side of the tree. Then adding jin and shari. Both designs pull the branches and foliage back into proportion with the trunk.

Although both designs require quite a bit of foliage and branch removal. When the tree is healthy enough and if it is done at the proper time, I believe it could be possible. However, I do remember that this tree lost a lot of foliage in the interior. Might be best to get it very healthy and see if you can get some strong back budding first.
