new tree tips

That was one of my firsts.

I still have some tortured (it's my daughters now) cuttings.
They went leafless and black tipped....
It came back...

16hr fluorescents.

A good species for in your flat!

What kind of ficus do you have? What has your own research uncovered on the matter?

I agree with bvf some ficus like to be more moost then others so that could change watering, but nevertheless I have many varietys of ficus and all I can say is if they have good light, soil, And nutrition they are fast to progress, try looking up ficus on this blog, this guy is my idol http://adamaskwhy.com

Just it's very tolalent to lack of light and watering and it's often used as a indoor bonsai. I have no idea what type it is just that it's a ficus here's some pictures of it

It looks like a ficus retusa aka tiger bark ficus.

Ficus are da bomb man, they are strong tree's wich can be kept inside. Also they are very good in fusion. Also you should stop biting your nails, maybe pick up smoking, it's never to late to start.

any helpful things i need to know about it?

Ficus microcarpa 'Tiger Bark' to be exact. Retusa is outdated and Tiger Bark is a cultivar of microcarpa.

Give it plenty of light and it should do fine.

They can handle as much sun as you can give them and the more you give them the more vigorous, they like to dry out a little in between watering but not totally dry obviously and they can progress quickly. I defoliate miner between 3-4 times a year and it never skips a beat, smallest leaves I've had are about half the size of my pinky nail so the leaf size can reduce tremendously. No worries on cutting back hard they back budd profusely if healthy. Also I've never had a cutting fail on me, I'm gonna be taking about a 2in diameter cutting off one of mine in summer.

I mean you can bind them together like this:

And eventually get a fused thunk like this:

In alot of time ofcourse :)

What do you guys think I could do with mine to make it look good I'm think ov cutting them random branch's off first

I wouldn't cut until you know what you wanna do, considering these back budd awsome and your trunk has little taper you could do a trunk chop and root the top of the tree, then you'd have 2 I'd wait till summer to do this though.

Yeah....I'd chop it at the first branch.....

Maybe another airlayer....of the top.

That top would be useful for cuttings to root and bind.....but that's about it IMO.

Nice base though.....definitely worth working it down to.
