New World Bonsai is about 1/2 hour NW of you around Temple Terrace. And there is also Elemental Bonsai in Kissimmee. Its a good idea to call ahead there. They supply to Disney and are out a lot.
Contact, D&L nursery. Also look at their web site, list of trees that grow and do well here. Also has not monthly very reasonable, also carry per bonsai and all supplies. About one hour drive from you.

Red maples (Acer rubrum) do grow down to the Everglades, but I'm not sure about the Keys. I saw a couple in Miami Beach, but they didn't look too healthy.
Acer floridanum ranges down to just north of Tampa on the west coast of Fl. The range map of this species doesn't show it, but you can see Acer floridanum at Devil's Millhopper park near Gainesville.
I have kayaked in the Everglades and along Alligator Alley and have seen Maples in both places. The canals along Alligator Alley are manmade and a lot of the spoils had nice healthy Maples growing on them. When I lived down in Sarasota county all the big box stores had them for sale.
Are your tridents still doing well? I'm thinking about buying one. They're gorgeous. Do you put them in a freezer or just allow them to live with our regular weather? Thanks
