Chad nice pickup. I noticed it has all juvenile foliage, I actually prefer that look on San Jose's. I have one with a mix and it looks messy. Was one side shaded from the sun or did you prune already?

Thanks. It just came in today. I just removed a few scragglers to see the trunk line better. I too prefer the needle foliage on these.

The SJ is what I call the Peter Pan Juniper, it can't decide whether it wants to grow up or not and I agree I do not care much for the adult foliage.

This tree needs a lot of refining before any decision on a final pot should be made. Assuming you will be starting the canopy this fall, you might consider actually up potting this one into a slightly larger training pot for a year or two, as the tree will probably need some cutting back and growing out as it develops. Start looking for an appropriate pot once the style is set and refinement is well underway. Nice material!

Planned on wiring it the same time as my JBP but probably will end up doing it sooner. Have to restock on copper wire. Any ideas for a pot Vance?

Thanks

Until you establish what is going on with the tree as far as style and form goes, you really do not want to find a pot yet. Making a decision on a pot at this point my influence what you do to the tree. The style and shape of the tree should come first and once you get that where you want it to be, then think about an appropriate pot that sets off the style and form of the tree. This is an issue of putting the carriage before the horse.
