Hi everyone, I collected a little Easter White Pine about 2 weeks ago (I know they done make good bonsai) and the needle are already turning brown. I'm new to bonsai and especially pines. Any help would be awesome!
maybe it’s stress from collection
maybe it’s the very wet mucky looking soil
maybe it’s from being bent and superglued to another piece of wood
maybe it’s maybelline
in all seriousness though, pines need a fast draining soil. A young tree like this would have benefitted from being dug, put into a fast draining soil and left to recover for a year before any work.
I cannot tell from your photo, but if the green ones have kind of a deathly grey green color in stead of the normal bright green, it is dead. If they are the normal bright green, the brown guys may be normal leaf drop - needles only last 1-2 years.
Regardless, wait and see how it progresses. It is an important lesson as pines rarely tell you what is going on until it is too late.
