Yes, those are last year’s needles. They turn yellow before they turn brown and fall off.The Japanese White Pine (picture #4) seems to have more yellow needles than I would expect at this time of year. Is that normal for this species?

Yes it was near perfect weather for viewing the collection, I actually go while its raining and you are usually the only person there. I also like how the rain makes the concrete wall behind the trees contrast so much as it dries. I think it also makes the trees look better in pictures. Arthur is and you can usually catch him there, he makes the Arboretum a very unique place.Thanks for the pictures, seems like you had a nice atmospheric weather to tour the collection. Is Arthur Joura still in charge? He’s an inspiring guy.
