Aren't you going to make cuttings?
No, I don't have time to do that. And I wasn't really looking for a the first branch to that close to the ground. I might regret that but at the moment I don't see the need for that. I like clump, root over rock so I probably will do a few of those with these.
 
When you get some time, check out Ausbonsa - Shibui,
he has an article one using the new growth for cuttings.
Just in case you get a naturally 1" in needle.

These are all I have left. Hope they make it. Last year was bad for my pines. Needle cast or some fungus claim a couple big ones and most of these.

A few weeks ago, planted out the 200 seeds left from the 50
seeds J.B.pine plastic bags from Amazon orders last year.

A good few went into small clay pots.

Hope this encourages you to try again.
