Mylar tent and grow light: Great!!!!!

So I've got my tent, lights, and fan all set up! Looking really good, although it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be even knowing the dimensions beforehand.

The trees are loving it so far -- I've got a temp/humidity gauge set up, but it's still stabilizing. I'm looking forward to seeing some awesome growth.

Pretty cool. If you're into customizing and making your own LED system, try Rapid LED. I corresponded with them by Email, and they're very helpful and patient. Anyone else, would've been driven crazy (I have a OCD side that comes out occasionally).

Curious Tom, what size tent is this?

It's 48" long by 24" deep by 48" high. It's big without being too massive. It can fit plenty of trees -- especially if you rig a 2 or 3 shelf system.

Right, I've had the tent before, but I don't recall it having a window.

Yeah, I think it was redesigned with added features or something like that. It's doing a good job at keeping heat in, but I'm having some problems raising my relative humidity. I think I'm going to add 3 aluminum roasting trays in the bottom to raise the humidity levels. It's just so hot in there that I'm having issues forcing enough water vapor in the air to significantly raise the levels. I need to either cool the tent better or get for water surface area, or (ideally) both.

For the first time, I am using a tent this season for wintering my ficus. They responded really well, with minimal leaf drop and some new growth. The humidity is the key for me I believe. I open the tent daily and run a regular household humidifier for a few minutes directing the output into the tent. Then I close the tent. That is keeping my humidity in the 70-80% range for the most part. I have a heat mat in the bottom to heat the enclosure to 75 degrees or so.

My ficus really like this setup. The only one that had bad leaf drop was the green island. But my "Too Little" and F. salicaria are growing and putting off aerial roots.

What kind of lights are you using?

I have a bank of T-5 HO (4 bulbs) above the tent. My tent is really a cheapo clear plastic "home greenhouse for seed starting" that set me back a whopping $35 if I recall. It has a two shelf frame and the green island is on the top shelf getting the most light.
