My Procumbens cascades

Repotted 2 of these cascades yesterday.
Neither into their final pot, but into pots I had available.
1st one went into a sorce pot as the pot it was in was literally on its last leg
to the point that the roots were coming through the side of the pot. I really don't like the new pot
for this tree. I don't have any trees that would look good in it really. The pot I want for it is in the UK at $200

The foliage is not where I like it before repotting, but all this adult foliage has me confused. I like the juvenile foliage
and very ripe before I work on my procumbens. No frost in the 10 day extended forecast, and a warmer than usual 1st part of May on tap.

Cascade #3 repotted 04/26/2024

I prepped a nice pot I had bought as a standby for #1 in case the Sara Rayner wasn't a good fit, but it is a 10" pot.
This may be a 10" pot but it's an oval and not 4.75" high inside.

Also ran out of and had to reorder new screen. I'm afraid the window screen will foul prematurely.

Cascade #5
Still leaving hard pruning for a July task, I removed over a gallon of foliage today and left some stupid toothpicks.
Not much to jin really. I left enough new growth tips to keep it pumped for next years repot.
Im eyeing a pot I'd like in an oval cascade style, but it's round. This pot is oval and will be fine for now.
I like the heavy counter balance for wind sake.

Round ^ I like this type of footing rather than 3 or 4 little feet covering less area, but in an oval

With the pot rotated nearly 90º clockwise, the cascading branch makes more sense and tapers.
Considering a semi cascade, the taper is a bit abrupt, mechanical looking and doesn't take advantage the potential.

I think sea dragons are really cool animals.

Cascading branch is in bad need of wiring again. It is however ready for some definition
that has been thought out along the way.

Haven bare rooted 3 years ago, I was surprised how loose the soil still was. A more dense mat of roots were found
along the bottom of the nursery can. Didn't like the position in the pot. Cut the tethers and unpotted it yet again and repositioned.
Still don't like how it's sitting in there. It's quite light still when dry, but the stability of this pot is much better than the plastic can.
Hope I didn't upset it too much this go round.

This is most of the thinning I'll be doing this year on #1.
The upper apex got some attention this go around. While it looked better before,
it is not comprised of two "horns" anymore. It should fill back in before too long.
A couple of cut backs to go to tighten it up later in Summer yet.
There are also 2 branches covering the top right of the pot. One will be removed
eventually exposing more of the blue gray and copper tones in the pot.
A skewer was placed in left front corner of pot to move cascading branch to the left some.

The lower portion will remain untouched, possibly all the rest of this year.
I'm still not comfortable with this much thinning in mid-late Spring.
