If not, you need to spend more time working on germination.

No, I did not.
Did any of the other seed types germinate ?
Yes. One sageretia and one texas ebony.
T.E. leaflets dried out after 2-3 days but the stem is green as if it is alive
Sageretia started wilting since the last few days....
However, I keep taking care and misting/watering all the seed trays in hopes that something will wake up

On May 7th one more seed sprouted. It looks really more vigorous than the previous.

All three previous seedlings wilted and died.

So all have now is this new one and only

This is really fun!

One of the key factors in Pine germination is to allow the surface of the media to dry out between watering. Also the plastic covering may create dampening off of the seeds in high numbers just after germination.
Air movement over the seedlings is very beneficial and full sun is important. Chopped sphagnum moss can help on the surface with anti-bacterial properties. I always use a less organic substrate for germination of pine, sterilized play sand and fine pumice mix. After they sprout i use light doses of liquid fish fertilizer.
This approach has been used for all the JBP and JRP that i grow and they have all been raised using the seedling radial cutting method. Here is a picture of a four year old recently potted in a grow box. I currently have approximately 500 pines under development using this method ranging in age from 1 year to 8 years. Perhaps these comments may assist.

I'm pretty sure they can ship all over Europe, and each time I ordered seeds, I was never disappointed.

Once again, a very reliable source for seeds, real professionals with years of experience.

If anyone in Europe has problems getting what they need, I can place an order and then send the seeds for you, but I doubt this will be necessary.

OK. Anthony so i've finally gotten the seeds delivered this evening........ So glad it wasn't delivered by the cops.....seeds are too big to be Sativa anyway

I am sorry to update with the failure of my seed and those few seedlings
But I will be starting over a second round. Not that I would ever had an ambition for the contest but only for the knowledge accumulation and the enjoyment of it!

you asked about cuttings ,
[1] for softwood - Ausbonsai - Shubui - his blog

[2] Hardwood - note - we only get 1 out of 5 to root.
[ rooted extras are given away,
Selected for speed of trunk thickening ]

soil - a mix of commercial Canadian peatmoss/perlite
and 5 mm silica based gravel.

The idea is simple, keep the cutting's end moist.

When we trim the selected 5 or so J.B.pines, some pieces
are kept for growing.

Remember this will take up a lot of space down the road.
30 to 46 cm wide by 15 cm deep earthenware pots.
Plus full sun for trees at around - 38 to 46 cm tall trees.

Cut piece, dip in rooting hormone , stick into soil.
Placement for us is Full Sun and they are watered like the
bonsai three times a day.

They are all in colanders for ease of removal from the trough.

The tree at the very end is the favourite Fustic, going for a 8 cm trunk

Apart from joking I have been searching and reading following your post.
Very interesting stuff on the internet.
Most interesting for me out of all the information it was this article : Amanda Rasmussen's Research overview
One other interesting thing is that I read that "wounding" the cuttings with two vertical cuts will give a boost to the process of rooting because wounding stimulates the healing process which stimulates production of hormones (among other substances) which help the cutting to root. https://www.finegardening.com/article/grow-your-own-conifers-from-hardwood-cuttings

Here are the questions :

1) Why is the cutting planted so deep? Aren't those buried needles going to rot?

2) Timing? When do you take cuttings at your side of the world? I think hardwood cuttings are cut during winter when tree is dormant but I read otherwise, too.

3) Do you take your cutting with a heel?

Sun , air, water. Simple stuff, The food, spirits and hockey are for the grower only! By the way what is poutine? Moosehead is not in the same league as Guinness and my Oilers are off golfing.

But for the rest of the masses out there, it is only the most important Canadian cultural contribution since the invention of the word “ehh” and new shoes on budget day. It is a Quebec delicacy consisting of French fries drizzled with cheese drizzled with brown gravy. One should get a health check before trying it because it can literally give you a heart attack just by looking at it. Canadians are somehow immune. Unfortunately, I’ve been told that it can only be consumed with Moosehead, so do you drink the goopy black stuff as an apéritif or a digestif?
