My juniper crumbled

Hey everyone. I totally new to bonsai so I need some help. I have two junipers out back facing south so they can get lots of sun. I went out today and when I touched the one junipers branch it just about crumbled. And my other juniper ( the more healthy of the two) is starting to get brown on the tips. What did I do wrong? I've kept them watered and where they get lots of sun.

More than likely you have under or overwatered. Anytime I've had these issues, it has been from soggy soil rotting the roots

Awe ok. I've been watering every night. Thought my soil drained better. I'll have to skip days in between waterings. Thanks for the input

Photos of the soil would help. I suspect it is probably bad, if these trees were purchase from a big box retailer or roadside vendor. Crumbling foliage is a very very bad sign. Emergency repotting into better soil may be your next move. Watering on a set schedule usually means too much water. Bonsai have to be watered when they need it, and those needs can vary greatly depending on season, weather, soil and growth of the plant.

Usuallly a crumbeling tree is dead tree. I've brought a Pine or two back from looking dead, but---Juinpers; once crunchy for ever cruhchy. The best thing you can do at this polnt is stop fooling yourself inti thinking the tree can be savd and start the forensics to see what went wrong. So maybe you can make sure it does'nt happen again.

With Juniper at a crumbling stage, not only is it dead but likely has been for some time. They can look okay for a bit in sheer will.

Hi rockm. Here is a pic of the soil my dead juniper was in

yeah. Bad soil. Big pebbles and peat moss isn't bonsai soil. It's an attempt at it, but peat moss is a bad thing for junipers. It holds too much water and IF it ever dries out, becomes impossible to re-wet. I'd look into getting a bag of decent bonsai soil from a reputable dealer online.
