Hey everyone,

After seeing some others post about the success they've had with their Ficus bejamina's, I thought I'd give the species another try. And me being me, I had to get the biggest one I could find. Introducing this big ol' Ficus benjamina:

This tree is loosely planted in this pot, just a temporary thing really. I plan on repotting it into a larger pot here by the end of the week, this one is too shallow. Stay tuned.

Not to second guess you, but the pot looks like the right size to me. If anything it looks a little too deep.

The rootball is actually peaking out from behind the pot, and it was a really tight fit. I may end up keeping it in this pot, but I will need to better mix the soil components.

Honestly once you repot and start watering n such I consider that a done deal. A ficus grows fast and most likely can handle repot a week later but I'd just leave it for a while the way it is. In say, a few months, slip pot it if you must. Did you chop it down or, I'm guessing it came like it is?

Well I believe I do at least need to rearrange the soil. I could only layer it in a way, and wasn't really able to mix the pumice and lava rock together all that well.

The tree came as is.

But then again, I probably shouldn't worry about that, as all the tree wants is just a place to put its roots.
