I haven't tried - but my guess is no. I see these in sandy loam and gravel on rock out-cropping's in Monterey, and on the cliffs in Santa Cruz, CA. I haven't seen or heard of them growing in standing water.

can you submerege these like bald cypress?

I've got some here in NC to see if they can handle the NC winters. So far they can. They like humidity but do not like their roots to stay wet.
