Maximizing spring & summer growth (P. afra)

The problem I see is...like most plants it takes a season to establish itself, and then takes off in the second. The real growth comes in the second. This don't take to freezing conditions well. It looses all its new growth when that happens to it. Might even die off the whole thing....:(
I have had mine for 5 months now. It has grown, I have trimmed it a bit and it grew more. I don't know how well rooted it is in its pot, and as much as I want to repot it, I'm probably gonna leave it in the stuff it came in for another year at least.
