Was all the tag said on an obviously yamadori dug tree for sale in an eastern oregon nursery.
I found out that there is a big nursery in northern california with that name, so I know where the tree came from. It's 2 needle but don't have a clue as to what it is. When I got it home to washington state, I did a mornings effort to get in roughed into the design, I thought of when I first saw it. Any thoughts as to what member of the pine family it might be?

Looks like douglas fir based on the bark.

young one at that. Grew up in the westside foot hills of the cascades had em all over the place.

Thats where these photos came from only considerably further south...

I'm thinking both the original picture and Smoke's photos look like lodge pole pines to me. Smoke's pics look like the place I collect Lodgepoles at Mammoth Lakes.

Photo's not real good i realize. It's a pine for sure, 2 needle. I don't know if maruyama will respond to my inquirery but I did write them and asked if they could help me ID the tree.
sent same photo. (thanks Smoke) :)

They very well could be. Obviously they are similer to Dicks picture. They both have similer bark.

I was about 40 miles due west of Mammoth lakes, other side of the mountains. Mammoth lakes butts up to Fresno County.

Pi co mu

That's the name on the email adress....so now I wait :)
thanks everyone

Im betting it might be Pinus contorta var. murrayana.
The lodgepole pine of non-coastal Oregon and California.
It is frequently misspelled.

I'm betting they are two-needle lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta variety murrayana).
We have millions in pine forests of the eastside Cascades in Oregon. At higher elevation and cooler areas than ponderosa can grow.
