LOL Buying by the kilo like the big dogs instead of by the gram

I have always bought my aluminum wire in 200 gram rolls from amazon but I have to do so every few months especially since a lot of my trees in training are ficus. After doing some figuring I could get much more in a larger roll for the dollar spent. So I was wondering is Stone Lantern's price of a Kilo roll of aluminum wire for $18.50 good?

I'd already be saving money buying it from them (not sure about shipping cost though it can't be much) compared to amazon's 200 gram roll but I am wondering how much others are paying.

The 1 kilo roll is for any size from 1mm-6mm

Yes it is a good price. I'll buy Al by the kilo for anything 2mm and above. 1.5mm gets messy.

I have always been buying the "set" of six sizes x 250 grams each but the next will be by the kilo from Stone Lantern. They have the best price I can find.

I have all the small copper wire I can use free from work now. I'm not sure if it's 1mm but it's thin thermostat wire and some phone wire. Yes it does have the coating on it and it's not annealed. But I get 10 foot scraps roll it up put it on a grill grate and put it over my fire pit. Next day it's all stripped of the coating and it annealed.

That's the same "set" I buy but I always need more of the 3mm wire and now I'm needing 5mm. And now that I don't need smaller wire (thanks to work) I won't be needing to order the smaller wire.

Your not serious about Bonsai until you start buying by the kilo. Stone latern is best price for aluminum.

I've bought Stone Lanterns inexpensive Al. Chinese made, which is fine, but size for size, the gauges are larger than the Japanese Al. wire. And it's black. But it is a good price.

Apparently not Brian. I just looked to double check, and the 3mm Jap is smaller than the 3mm Chi Al. But both felt the same strength.

I recently bought the cheap wires from Stone Lantern from 2.5mm to 4.5 mm sizes and they shipped me all 4.0mms mis-labeled as the smaller sizes. Bad experience.

I'm sure all you would have to do is drop them a quick email, they've always been very responsive to customers there.

Yeah I can't qualify that as a bad experiance if you haven't even contacted them. It's hard to be perfect and for all we know the wire could have been labled wrong from their dealer. Hell to me it would be worth contacting them. They might send the correct wire at no charge and tell you to keep what you got.

I have ordered a lot from them and have had nothing but a great outcome.
