Little dwarf schefflera

It will work as a bonsai. Personally it is far from my favorites as a tropical bonsai, but it can develop awesome aerial roots.

Then I'll do my best, I'm so split in terms of bonsai. I want my trees to quickly be cool looking bonsai, but I also prefer young seedlings/plants because they give me more control in how they're styled, more personal. But then it takes longer since they're so young.

I have the dwarf cultivar 'Luseane'. It is very slow to develop any trunk thickness so let it grow freely until the trunk is the size you want, then cut back. The leaves do stay small even without defoliation.

My wife gave me hers to work with:

Thinking of potting it up a bit and getting it more light. What soil are you planning to use?

Mine is just growing in regular soil right now, it's too young for training but yours looks more grown, if you want it to thicken more I'm under the impression that bonsai soil like akadama isn't the best for growth more for fine tuning.
Nice looking schefflera 😁

I enjoy the smell of pruning schefflera, it smells like peeling a banana or something to me.

I'll let you know if that happens in the fall... 😁

Even tiny specimens can make interesting forms. Here's my small Schefflera, and I have a bigger one that is more banyan-like. Aerial roots can be built and matured in less than 2 years!

Nice looking schefflera 😁
I have this small Dwarf Schefflera that I've been experimenting on in inorganic bonsai soil. I'm also trying to create a bayan style tree with two bigger ones in organic soil, I have a thread in the Tropical forum about it.

That looks great!

Great tree! Thinking I'm going to keep this on the small size for now...

Small works well. I have a few cuttings that I keep small and the leaves reduce.

I have two that I have in a banyan-likeIMG_1006.jpeg
Variegated grown over a lava rock. This tree was gifted to me in 2010 and launched me into this hobby.

This was made from several rooted cuttings from a cheap Home Depot Schefflera that I decided to screw around with.

These are both very nice trees IMHO... I really like the root structure on the first one!
