Little Christmas tree contest? 2023 to 2026.

20” maybe. Btw, the sub-forum for this contest isnt showing up for me, so I cant start a thread. Kinda weird.
Sub forum?
Hmmmm…… There is a possibility I didn’t set this up right. 🤣
I thought that each contestant just posts their personal thread in the contests forum.

Oh maybe. The whole contest forum doesn't work for me though. It always shows the same threads unchanging. It’s really strange. I cant see anyones little xmas tree threads except on the whats new page.

Since we’re on the topic, I think further communication or questions should be posted in the actual contest thread.

Just easier to navigate. I did find it strange that when I scrolled through the contest threads, I didn’t see this one listed.

This thread was more of an inquiry about whether or not anyone would want to do this again.

Just looking, and yeah, same for me.
I usually just see the notifications and view from there. But yeah, I don’t see anyone’s threads either.

@bnut may be able to help?

What normally happens, is if a contest gains enough momentum, @Bonsai Nut will create a sub forum under contests for it.

I always wanted to ask if I could come dig those up.
Do it. I felt a little odd at first asking, but the guy got all enthousiastic. When I asked him about their process of getting the stumpb out, he made the point of saying: Well, that is not relevant, because you want to keep it alive, and we will have to be more carefull. Greatgreat. Even gave me his home & cell phone numbers so I can touch base in Jan more easily than driving over.

Stopped at HD near work today and got a Ilex Soft touch for 50% off. It was the only one there and the soil was frozen solid so no digging for trunk... love the small leaves and for $10 why not?

Need to read up on it.
That’s awesome! Happy holidays.

I guess I am out of control... another one. The tag says Alberta spruce. Is this the difference between AS and DAS?
Interesting story to go with it. I am on call for work and had to go to our Wilmington DE office (more New Castle than Wilm in real life). So I decided to check out Lowes and HD nearby after I was done. Lowes had nothing on sale and under the sign "Decorate for the Holidays" they had last fall shrubbery - spireas, azaleas, rhododendrons and roses of Sharon full price and half dead.
HD had all holiday live plants half off and a good variety. I picket this one for a live Chrismast tree entry maybe. Went through self checkout, it did ring up half price while a hepless "helper" watched me. On the way out the door I set off shoplifting alarm (bells and whistles) and the break on my cart wheel locked up. That's a new feature to me. The same helper that watched me had to come out and unlock my cart.
I guess the area is not very nice in general. In Lowes when you walk by power tools the bells go off and recording cameras kick in and show your mug on the screen. I always make a couple faces hoping somebody is watching...

I really wanted to enter but I'm not lucky like you guys. The homedepot Lowe's Wal-Mart all have nothing in stock I was told live holiday plants only available online so I checked they have some but still full price around $50+. I stopped in at tractor supply they have a 4.5 foot spruce with rootball in wooden crate for $50 but soil is bone dry and tree losing needles plus bigger then I wanted so I did not buy. So unless there's a miracle and a tree pops up somewhere I guess I can't enter 😥

I found this greatly affected by the area stores are in. Looks like the stores in the same chains making individual decisions. I found HD and Lowes in Deptford, NJ having the best selections in my immediate area...
Walmart stores are devoid of any holiday plants this year anywhere I looked. Got tired of killing them?

The tree on the right I got today has to be mislabeled...
Could it be Norway spruce?
sure looks that way. I haven’t seen Norway Spruce anywhere. Now you have a slow grower and a super speedy grower. Fun. 😊

I guess I'll have to wait until cones come out.
Well, we do have them as landscape trees and who knows what they can sell for Christmas decor...
We have a couple mature Douglas firs at work and they don't look like this one, but it could be just a difference between mature and juvenile growth. I am going to take a look at them tomorrow, maybe bring a brunch home for comparison.

They’re always watching. They even let thieves go, knowing the police will arrive at their residence or place of business within 12 hours. They’re basically the FBI of Home Improvement. Nice Spruce on the left btw. Short and robust, she will be a good 🎄 entry
