Lavender Star Flower (Grewia)

So the re-potting process is complete. The root structure looked good, nothing overly long or rotted. It was not root bound in the pot, but the soil in the root structure was extremely packed, lots of organics and very wet. Took quite a while to work it out of the roots structure. Time will tell. . . . I will keep a very close eye on it. Since the kids are out of the house, and I have no pets, this is about all I have to worry about right now. Thanks again.

They are pretty tough, hopefully it will be OK. You need some more trees to keep you occupied, and just let this one recover and grow. ;)

You should not let it dry out, because it will in this new mix if you don't keep up with it.

I am finding on the other side of the Commonwealth the two tiny one's I have like to be grown like an Azalea, Damp but not wet. I am up potting them and others to my organic mix which drains great but retains a little moisture this weekend - Had Agway get 26 3 1/2 inch grow pots out from the warehouse this morning. Also, they don't seem to mind being indoors here under a low T8 full spectrum light.

Nice to see you back as of recent!

This is why you need 10 or more trees. The other 9 keep you from killing one.

Thanks Grimmy ...season's coming to a close. I agree about the moistness. They are a bit of a water suck. Bill V. says they make good house plants. Mine is kept in a quasi- greenhouse for the winter......sliding glass door replacements for walls with a conventional roof. I keep it at 62 F during the day and 54 F at night. I added some T5 s last year for a supplement but didn't really notice a difference. If the plant doesn't like that culture.....oh well... moving on.

Your plant is VERY nice, if you don't like it PM a price ;) Thank you for sharing it AND your experience with it.

Always a pleasure,

Grimmy

I have plenty of trees (2 acres), just not in pots. That and 3 acres of lawn take some of my time. Tons of possibilities though. Lots of maples, oaks, ash, dogwoods and honeysuckle growing down fences. Believe me, it has me thinking . . . .
