The wife hates the lantanas that came with our house 3 years ago. When they put them in they were just little 1 gal plants. Granted they are not great for bonsai. So today she tells me to rip it out throw it away, and put her stone pine in the hole. Not one to throw away a perfectly good plant, I hosed it off and it had gotten pretty massive in three years. I decided to clean it up and see if it would live. Sadly I forgot to get a pic while it was in the ground. The first set of pics is what it looked like after I washed the clay off.

Here it is after a little cleanup. I likely took off more roots than I should have as I was thinking about getting it into a pot eventually. However, as you will see I put exposed live tissue and put rooting hormone on the base. If that works it will be super cool. We'll see...

Got a lot of choices there - maybe let it recover while you choose branches you want to keep.
