Tim,

I like what you have done so far. My only suggestion would be a wider, shallower pot or maybe even a slab to convey a greater sense of open landscape.

Regards and thank you for showing it.

Regards,
Martin

thanx. the pot is a bit small, about 26 cm long

I like the idea of this, but the rocks are overpowering the trees in my mind. I think if you did use a larger pot, you could put more space between tree and rock, and it would work better. Or maybe just more space in general without moving the tree away from the rock would also solve it. Don't know, you'll have to play with it and see.

I am on the opposite side, I like the trees to be much smaller and make the rocks appear even bigger....maybe plant smaller trees/plants on the rock crevices instead?

I agree that a shallower pot/slab would look better.

I really like this. It reminds me of Canyonlands or Arches NP in Utah where vegetation is dwarfed by unusual rock out croppings.

From an artistic standpoint I feel the larger particle size, and pot are taking away from the overall scale of the composition.
Plant it on a slab with a finer gravel (if you can get away with it) and I think you'll be in business.

(Just my opinion of course. I really do like this!) :D

I'm forever checking out rock formations on the net. Utah and the American West in general has amazing formations. Type in cederberg mountains rock formations on google. Very similar to Utah's. It's a mountain range in the western cape of south africa. Thanx to all for advice/comments. Much appreciated.
