Juniper scion grafting

I’m grafting shimpaku to a western juniper using scion grafts. I have had good success in the past but haven’t tried a branch this thick yet. Have you had success grafting in branch locations like this?
Sorry the photo isn’t great, but you can hopefully get a sense of the diameter based on the section with raffia.
