Somehow it makes sense, if the live veins function somewhat as a wick, it seems like a good idea to help prevent any portion of it from drying out, and keeping things moving between the foliage and roots.
Not sure if I read it somewhere, but when I collected RMJs this spring, we misted the trunks along with foliage very diligently several times a day for the first 8 weeks. They're all alive and growing.
Please keep us posted, this is a great juniper!
