Hi all. The owner of the nursery asked me to clean up one of his small, over grown junipers for sale. Since I cannot say no to working on any juniper, here it is. :D

Good job as always. I wouldn't have recognized it as same tree had you not put them together in this sequence.

Any chance for a shot from the top?

Thanks all.:D

Hi Poink, unfortunately the tree is already back at the nursery. The tree had had the same structure from all angles. It was not one of those "looks good from the front only" trees. :D

I had to keep going back and looking at the differences between photos. I wish I had the vision to see this in the original specimen. A true talent...looks amazing what you did with it!

Hell of a job on this little guy. Looks like it would be a fun styling AKA not so much wiring your fingers hurt.

Thank you. Stick with it for a couple/few more years and you will be cranking out these little guys as well. ;)

Thanks. That is a postive. However, trying to wire such small branches can be quite tedious.:D

Great job! I have many waiting for you here......

Thanks Don. If I lived closer, you wouldn't have to ask me twice. :D

Rob,

Hope you do not mind me mangling your pic. I am new to Junis and trying to learn. What do you think of this virt? This is more of what I see as MY goal (due to taste & preference) had I been given the chance to play with the same tree (guided by what you already did) :o

Input much appreciated.

Thank you.

Nice clean up! Amazing what a little soap and water will do. I would say you made the tree much more saleable. Thinking of comments from another thread though, those who dont want trees styled by another person, now they won't buy it?

perhaps he did just narrow the buying field but he just took a $50-100 tree and made it a $250-400 tree. Its worth the risk

Shucks, wish I could find that material for a cool 50.

When does the shop open up?

I say $50 because I guarantee that trees like that have been commonly skipped over in that price range because unless you really have a trained eye that before picture looks like a little turd. I have trees that I cant hardly give away and after I prune them and wire them they fly off my sales table

Nice work Rob, I was going to ask you if you had styled this yet. I bet he asks you to do more...

Your virt is very nice and judging by a picture alone, makes for a very well balanced tree. Unfortunately, I don't think it would have been possible. This tree had very little foliage close to the trunk. Also, there are only 4-5 branches on the tree. Instead of making one pad per branch, I split them into about 2 pads per branch. This does 2 things. First, it gives the tree an older look. Having multiple small pads as opposed to one big pad on each branch, gives the look of a more mature tree. Second, it allowed me to fill in more space. If not, there would be big open spaces in areas that would make the tree look awkward.

Thanks wireme. I think that someone traded or sold this one to the nursery. I don't know if they are going to get to see what they traded. I would be curious to see what their thoughts are.

Yup, there are things to consider on both sides.

Thanks Tom. He asks me here and there to style trees. However, as you know, the nursery is almost 100% geared towards unstyled, rough stock.

Thanks Rob! I'll file that in my memory bank. :)
