I've been keeping cling film on top of them to retain all the moisture and humidity, but now I can't really because I don't it stunting their growth at all.. Do you think the film was doing much for them?
Where's the growing from seeds experts?
Also thats 2 out of 10. Hopefully see some more heads popping up over the next week.

I started these on the 6th of March. Took a grand total of 9 days to germinate.

what species is this?

what species is this?

I was being purposefully mysterious about that, for some reason.
These are wisteria seeds.

Cos it takes long enough to grow seeds, so why not grow a tree which doesn't flower for 10-14 years...
Are you the seed expert? :P

Are those bonsai seeds?

I can't tell if you are joking, I'm sorry if you aren't .
No, they are normal tree seeds. Taken from the pods hanging on a large wisteria that climbs my neighbours and my garden fence. There are no such things as bonsai seeds, just regular tree seeds :)

Oh, thank you... Lol. I was really not sure if you were testing me or something.. !

Never grown anything from a seed before, was quite nice to see them poke through the soil today.. Im probably doing many things wrong but gotta start somewhere! I'd be pleased if one of these makes it in to a bigger pot and shows healthy strong signs.
Just looking for some seed experts to help with questions :)

I am not. I've started seeds before and my only suggestion with starting indoors which it appears you are, is to watch out for fungal issues and be careful with soil mix staying too wet.

I thought fungal infection would be easier to avoid indoors? Ok, thank for the tips :). Its research time now. Just learnt that the high humidity is not good once the sprout comes above soil level. Causes fungal infection. Thing is, its good for them growing and most of them are still growing.. So.. Ill have to play fast and loose with that rule.
Im keeping moist, not too wet. Spraying water on too, not pouring on.

MY bonsai seeds have recently sprouted. North facing bathroom window. About 70 degrees, fair amount of humidity. No cover of any kind. Just sitting in a dish with 1/4" water. (sorry, you'll have to translate the 70 degree and 1/4" from American to metric)

Roughly 21c, exact same as mine are mostly kept. Although during the middle of the day the temp reaches 30c+ (86f).
Looks good, what species?

Jack Pine if the instructions can be believed.
I don't think anyone expects that they'll live. Even @Bonsai Nut killed his.

Lol, well, good luck. Im genuinely quite excited by mine. If they live the month, get a good number of roots, their own pots, start phasing them to living outside then Ill be really happy.

They germinate well i have 3 wysteria seedlings from last year
Cling film helps for humidity and raises tempratures wich is good

I noticed that they need alot of water

I kept the film on, and basically cut 2 squares where the saplings have popped out. So the film stays on the others for humidity and doesn't stay on the ones that popped, to help it not developed fungal infection.
What did you plant your ones in to, mix? And has it been quite successful?

They survived the winter on their spot i put them after transplanting them without any protection from anything and the buds are swelling i noticed today

As soil mix i used 70 % terramol (litterbox stuff danish baked clay) 10% grit (tiny stones 1-3 mm) and 20% cocopeat

I am going to put two in the ground soon so then i will see how the roots look like with this mix ill let you know by then!!

Oh almosth forgot :
When you transplant them leave the seed atached they feed from it i accedently pulled one off from one and that one died on me

Edit
Now i remember when i put them outside the leaves seemed kinda off and felt like dry paper but they kept growing so if that happens no worries

Instead of film you could cut the botom of plastic bottles and place them over the seeds

Ive got malus seedlings growing like mad :D

Very cool :) thank you for info.
Well hopefully I won't need the humidity much longer, once they all sprout above soil level. 2 down, 8 to go.
I also use a litter mix, just nothing else at the moment. I think I need to get some fine chopped bark, I like that as an organic component to a mix.
