Is there any hope for my satsuki azalea?

You are welcome.

There are lots of variations between inside and out. Some folks put their azaleas out in the early morning sun if the temperatures are not too extreme. If one must bring the azalea inside for a brief time, nothing extra is needed to be done.

Once weeks are involved, an inexpensive led lighting system and small fan would be in order for times the plant is inside. Normally three weeks would be fine given indirect lighting besides the led and the inside temperatures are in the 80’s or below.

Thanks for being understanding & straightforward with info. Cheers to you too ✌🏻

Any plant can live indoors for a while. What it needs to recover is low light, high humidity whether that's indoors or outdoors. But definitely put the pot in a bucket of water to ensure it's watered properly. If bubbles come up, you know it was still dry somewhere. If it survives I would put it in a bigger pot as this will stop it drying out as fast.

If you can understand 'middle eastern desert' from what I said what's the point of this comment? Please dont put words in my mouth, I never said that. I just said I was uncomfortable, and I don't have to explain that. You can stop commenting if you don't want to help any more. No need to go into negativity. Thanks anyways.

I'm not sure I understand what was negative about my prior comment, but sorry for whatever offense I caused.

I was trying to explain that all you need to put in your profile is "Middle Eastern Desert." When others ask for your location, they don't mean that they need your mailing address. They mean that they need to know your climate.

Your response was just fine. The op really over reacted.

Saying "you need to put x in your profile" and "nobody cares about your address" are 2 completely different sentences. You're assuming I'm being paranoid or stupid so you're explaining that nobody needs my adress. I mean duh? Did I say "I wont share my adress?"

I won't put that in my profile because it is only accurate for this time of the year. There are different climate zones in different zones in my country and someone in the US or EU won't know enough about them anyways so I'll have to explain it anyways. Just saying "x country" is not enough for what's needed here, and like I said before I'm not comfortable sharing my location, even vaguely. That's not because I got off my donkey yesterday and found a cable and suddenly got internet, now when someone asks for location I think they want my adress. That's because of reasons I dont have to explain to you.

If stating the weather conditions and not sharing location is against the rules in this forum and you are an enforcer of that rule, please let me know. I don't intend to break rules so I'll gladly go elsewhere. If not please let me be.

Yet, having a number of friends and acquaintances from the Middle Eastern bloc of countries, I can totally understand some of the potential issues Involved that might not come immediately to mind to a user here. But I’m sure once folks give a bit of thought about this situation, and why some folks would like to protect this information, they’d understand.

There is absolutely no rule about posting this information. The sole reason we like to see location/ zone information, and folks giving advice routinely ask for it, so they can give better horticultural advice over time.

That said, we welcome new visitors at all times and hopefully no one here intends to needlessly antagonize folks.

I'm genuinely trying to be helpful, and that's hard to do when you assume I think you're stupid or paranoid. If I thought you were stupid or paranoid, I would tell you you're stupid and paranoid.

I have friends from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and Iran. I have some idea of why you might not want to share your location. I though perhaps a very vague description would work for you. Evidently, that's not the case. You're allowed to leave that field blank. Just know that you're going to get a lot of questions about your location from other users who don't know why you left it blank. Once you tell them, they'll be fine with it.

Gabler was not attacking you, nor was he being negative.

He was stating that we don't need your address, or specific location. Just a general idea of what we're up against in giving our opinions about what to do. That's what you came here for right?

Nothing more than that. We ask about location because, as you are discovering, that it is EXTREMELY critical to giving advice on bonsai. You have inherited a species that will not grow very well in hot dry climates. It requires some extra steps, or precautions.

Obviously, this is a sensitive topic. We get that. The U.S. has a dozen or more climate zones, from deserts to arctic, to tropical. We understand different climates. FWIW, desert climates are pretty common in the U.S. You might take a look through the resources of bonsai clubs based in those areas for some useful info that applies to hot, dry climates.

That's the thing tho - who assumes an exact address when asked for a location about something like this? I am well aware why that info was requested, I responded with adequate info, offered extra if anyone needed to know more. Noone asked anything, but I get this message saying "noone here cares enough to know your address." People who tried to help helped and left. Didn't argue with me or turned this into a whole thing to the point where I started to think if this was a rule.

I won't keep answering to this topic, I don't see the point, especially when multiple people running to their defense. I don't like getting ganged on, sorry.

Thank you for saying that - it's weird that it even needs to be said. Didn't think it would be a whole thing. The most people do is say ok and walk away. It is still a welcoming experience thanks to everyone - I still got good advice and my focus is to keep my plant alive, that's what matters

You've misinterpreted. The remark about not caring to know your address was an attempt to reassure you we don't need an exact address, just an approximation.

By way of background, some people sometimes sell things through this site and addresses ARE exchanged in private messages.

No one is ganging up on you. We're merely trying to explain how this forum works.

What is the point of explaining to me for the 6th time that you don't need my home address? I am saying that I won't be sharing my location. I understand perfectly, do you understand that? I still won't be sharing. Do you understand?

Read the whole thing and see how many times I tried to explain I understand, I still won't be sharing.

If you still don't understand my understanding isn't the problem, the problem is you guys keep parrotting "we don't need you home adress". Do you get that?

I get you don't need my home address. I. Get. It. I still won't share.

Ok? Explaining that for like the 6th time in this thread.

No i did NOT assume you asked for home address. You guys might be exchanging home adressess between you, I cannot know that. In a normal online setting when people ask for location they don't mean home address. And I did not mean home address. I, understand it's not home adress, I get what it's for. STILL NOT SHARING. get that? Or need another repetition?

I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE NOT ASKING COR HOME ADRESS. I UNDERSTOOD HOURS AGO. I GET WHY YOU'RE ASKING FOR LOCATION, STILL NOT SHARING. Do you understand?

This is freaking harassment to tell me over and over something that I understood and said I understood for the 5th time.

sorry for the confusion @sat.suki
We don't mean any harm, honestly.
Anyone with an interest in little trees in pots is welcome here.

Please do let us know if your azalea recovers.

I want you to know that I understand why you are reluctant to give your information and I will remember not to ask you again.
I also understand the frustration of having it be repeatedly said.

I feel I should let you know that some may not see this thread and won't know or remember your desire to not share your location information. Please try to be patient with us, although I know it can be hard sometimes. Once more people get to know you, they will remember.

I love your avatar by the way. It's very cute.

....I posted the above post accidentally in another thread then tried to just copy it over here but it ended up copying the entire page.... stupid phone

Before I fixed it you responded in the other thread

Thanks for understanding man. That's all I'm trying to say, and I've said it so many times in this post it became irritating. Its my personal preference, not me misunderstanding.

I'm fine with people asking me about the weather or climate in every post I made. That affects me, nobody else. Doesn't have to be a huge thing.

Thank you btw, it's a drawing I made a few years back. :)

Welp, I was wondering what happened there. It's okay, I tried to delete my reply there but couldn't do it either. Now this is multiple levels of miscommunication, haha!

@Gabler @rockm

I apologize if I was being needlessly aggressive. That is not my intention. It IS very frustrating having to explain to multiple people, multiple times that I did not think you asked for home address, it's just a preference; I will provide necessary information about the climate when asked. If that hurts anyone that's me and I find it very much okay. It's how I've always had a presence online, and this is pretty much the first time I found resistance when I said that. Again, I understand the reasoning perfectly.

I'm here to learn and get help, and I appreciate you guys trying to help out. No hard feelings I hope. I'm here for my little tree, that is doing better actually.

If you would like to try again and grow satsuki, and have difficulty finding materials locally, I could try to help.
But I do not have experience growing them in a very non-humid and hot location.
Some people here in Southern California do (though there was a thread recently about someone who also struggled with hot weather).

There was definitely some kind of breakdown in communication. For what it's worth, I was never under the impression you thought you needed to share your mailing address. In my subsequent posts, I was trying to figure out where the miscommunication occurred to avoid further miscommunications and to clarify my earlier point, but evidently that backfired, and it led to further miscommunication anyway. I'm glad to hear you nonetheless felt welcome on the forum.
