Thought I just post for future generations… how important is it to use raffia with bends… especially significant ones. Had one like this and when unwrapping today I saw a major crush in the trunk… have it not been wrapped with raffia that too would be probably gone. Make sure you bet your skills up for raffia wrapping… it’s important.

How's the bonsai scene in Shanghai? I have some family there and will be going back again to visit next year. Any good places you recommend I go see?

There is Shanghai Botanical garden… so you can go have a look but I normally go to outskirts of the city to look/buy trees… you wouldn’t normally go there for “sightseeing” but admittedly they do have a lot of great trees there… just when they see you’re not local the prices go 4-5 fold up… so you need some experience to handle it… plus if you really want good stuff it’s normally not “on the shelf”. I bought several pieces that I like but it was behind the shop in the “storage” area. When it gets closer to your trip you can PM me… I’ll try to search some more representative places to see.

Won't be buying any trees cause I can't bring it back, unfortunately. But I'd love to see the bonsai scene there.
Let's keep in touch if you're cool with that! thanks :)
