Silly question: why do you want your tree to look like a sling shot? Maybe you're partial to them perhaps? Not sure but we generally try to avoid that "Y" look.

This is a very weak design for a tree. A tree with two equal apexes has no visual tension or much interest. You may see "devils horns" the rest of us see a bland slingshot arrangement. Reducing one side to be subordinate to the other introduces some interest in the monotony of two equals.

I know it's one of your first trees so I really didnt think you would be up for something so drastic.
I'll bet you in a year or two if you stay with bonsai you will say"I'm giving this tree a big old chop."
Don't do anything to it right now. Learn to keep it in good health and enjoy it.

But, if you grow that slingshot, or Devils Horns, though, unless you show this at a Satan worshipping festival, like a rock show, everyone is going to keep calling it a slingshot.....when you've heard enough of it.....

You're gonna do one of two things.....

Shoot yourself in the eye with the sling shot.

Or.

Cut it down to that branch!

For real, it looks to have a decent flare now.

If its healthy enough to chop next year, I would. You'll get buds lower too, that you can use to further fatten your base, and start building off of.

Or try your hand at airlayer the top off.

If you like that tree! Have 2 of them!

2, much better trees worthy of more than a sacrifice to evil!
