Ickyguy's mystery pine

I was able to make it to the local club meeting after a long day of taking apart a giant sitka spruce (pic related 😜)

Had time to run home to grab this tree and get some input. According to the guy who I was told "if anyone knows, it'll be him" it's a Scots. There was more talk about cutting back to the first branch and rebuilding to get a "classic bonsai" out of it. That branch is staying on for now to thicken things up, so that options still on the table, but I'm still going ahead with the original split trunk design for now to see where I can take it. Stay tuned for some light fall work in another month or so
 
Well I’ll be! I‘d bet it was a lodgepole.

Dunno why one would ever raise Scots in a PacNW nursery when there is some much better Lodgepole and Shore Pine around. 😎
