UPDATE:
I have been working on this ficus for a week, it is finally done for this year. It started with a repot, and a new pot, the old one had become too small. Probably not the best pot choice, but what I had on hand for now. The a complete defoliation ( there were exactly 4,385 leaves on this tree) to examine the structure, followed by branch selection, and 5000000 feet of wire.

Update: After a couple of months it needed a trim and some more wire. It is the way of the ficus, wire on, wire off...
