Unless you live in the deep tropics or extreme Arctic environments there is a species of Juniper that will likely grow and thrive wherever you live. If the question is how do I determine what I can/should grow? I check the nurseries and I look at the woods. There is only one of the Junipers listed above that is "Iffy" and that would be the California Juniper which seems to not do well with it's own foliage outside California. Most of the rest of them seem to be highly adaptable to almost any environment. However having said that it become also important that the species of Juniper is suitable for bonsai, and not all of them are. There is a book known as the Manual of Wood Landscape Plants by Dirt. You should be able to find this in the Library----ya know that place with all the books,---or on line. The book details the traits of most native and commonly used trees you can think of.
