Hoses and watering wands

Thanks for the tips. I had heard about the hot water but had forgotten about it. If it wasn’t raining all day, I’d give it a go! Failing that and a tighter clamp, I’ll back it up with a second one.

Very Hot water definitely helps. It softens the hose up if you let it sit for a minute and makes things more effective. You can also apply the clamps to the warmed up hose and they will tend to hold better.
 
Alright, I made two changes (yes, poor independent variable isolation, I know!) and it seems to have worked out. As I mentioned, I heated the hose segment to connecting it to the wand, which allowed me to get it a little bit higher on the wand shaft. The other change is that I positioned the clamp just below the bead in the stem. Hmmm come to think of it, there were actually 4 independent variables, as I actually changed the hose connecting to the adapter and tightened the clamp a bit more. Clearly, I’m no scientist.
