I'm looking for advice on styling and pros and cons of removing the lower limb this spring.

Not sure about the removal of the lower limb, but I would want to get some back budding going on there. The tree looks pretty sparse. Also your soil looks like potting soil and I would study bonsai soils and look for some of that maybe.

That is a very weak tree. I would get it growing well before considering pruning. I agree with at @August44 that the soil looks like potting soil. Adding your location to your profile would get you the best advice. Here in Illinois I have to bring mine in for the winter but they grow well under lights.
