Friends, today I decided to organize my files and retrieve some information that went through scattered. In this way I will present the history of this plant a Guajuvira - Patagonula americana. This is an indigenous species from south Brazil, wich i like very much to work , its a perenial tree with dense foliage. The first record I have of her is 2010, at the peak of my interest in bonsai (the first time I read something was in August 2008). In this period i was suported and helped by my great friend and tutor Afonso Fengler, who gave me this plant because it had roots out of the middle of the trunk, impossible to fix.

March 2010: As soon as the plan was to stop in my old house (temporary), was rather neglected and without intervention.

November 2010: defoliation, pruning, selection of branches and wiring. Notice the inverted taper and the adventitious roots.

2011-2013: black period, which i remained two years completely neglecting my bonsai.

June 2013: In my residence, I rescue the surviving plants, this Guajuvira was one of it.

March 2014: Just keeping the sacrifice branches on the lower part of the tree, thinner than it should.

February 2016: After complete restyling.

August 2016: New training pot and spring defoliation.

Very cool, maybe the pot is a little bit to 'concrete' looking and deep. Welcome to the forum.

Hey Cypress187, indeed it is a concrete pot, it is ugly and big for the tree. Soon I´ll look for a definitive and more suitable one.

Very nice and thank you for introducing a new plant I do not know, and the progression.

Hi Vin, i would like to know why, understanding your point of view would be great!

Well, the concrete pot may have been a bit big for the tree but it has lots of character. The new pot quite frankly looks like a cheap production pot. Sure it will work for now but the tree deserves better.

The new pot is too round and feminine in my opinion. Color is right, but needs to,be more shallow as well.

The concrete is cool, but too distracting for this tree

I agree. I would look for a somewhat shallower pot with a grey-cream glaze (like grey toned underglaze with a white drip) - maybe with a touch of blue or red.

I'm not familiar with the species but if it can handle a pot half as shallow as the current one then that's what I would be working towards.

I like the look of the tree when the first branch moves/points toward the right side...hmmmmm.....maybe it's just part of me being right handed. I like the concrete pot.

I really like this tree, you have done a masterful job. Very nice.

It would look better in a pot with a gray, or cream color background and blue-green highlights. This tree would be complimented by a glazed pot. If not available local, consider eventually importing one from Japan or other country. Don't know your import and tariff taxes, but if not too bad, worth looking world wide for the right pot. This tree is high enough quality that it deserves a pot that would cost several day's wages. This is high praise for what you have created.

Price of pot is meaningless, but I use the cost to point to the quality I am referring to. It may take several years to find the right pot, but it will be worth the effort.

Hey Leo, i really appreciate your commentary, and I totally agree with it. I will try to find the right pot.

If you find somethink like it, please link it to me.
