My idea is a formal upright with an irregular dome-ish apex. I have began to orient the secondaries and tertiaries as with a deciduous dome style. Maybe additional pruning:Pretty straight trunk.. ive never seen as a bonsai so thats cool. Where do you see the design going?
Nice! Would love to see itI have a variegated variety like yours, but much smaller. They can make great bonsai, but are not very common.
The dwarf flowering variety is a little more commo and has much smaller leaves, but still pretty rare to see.
Following along.
Ah! Thanks, I’ll post the next same holly (if I get one) in the other pageThis is not an other conifer species but a plant in the olive family.
Not sure what to do about the roots. Should I build up moss now? And transition to bonsai pot? Or is it better to attempt to flatten the root flare rather than have it tall like it’s current state?Pretty cool! I’ve got one in England but we have it in the garden as a hedge.. Beautiful colors and exposed roots on yours!
I think I will embrace it since it has given me naturally good nebari and no need to attempt to create it. I will eventually repot and build the soil and moss up to the point just above where the all the roots make a drastic decline/angle downward so the nebari has a flat appearance. That will be good for the composition. Not sure best answer but looks like either embrace it or air layer it above?
Here's the Goshiki and the HimeNice! Would love to see it
Nice! I like the Goshiki variegated foliage, and the other one looks healthy. Happy growing and thank you for sharing! Here's the Goshiki and the Hime
Goshiki I got in winter, chopped down tpo the lower buds and repotted at an angle.
The hime I got recently to replace the tiny one my wife forgot to water this August.
