I have been gathering maple seeds from different sites to scarify this winter for germination in the spring. I am familiar with Acer Palmatum varieties, Acer Buergerianum, and the Acer Ginalla. Has anyone every tried Korean Maple (acer pseudosieboldianum) or Snakebark Maple (Acer grosseri)?

OK,..I gather from the lack of responses that no one has tried these two varieties. I will let you know as they germinate and keep you posted.

That would be great. I'm relatively new to bonsai, but in my ramblings around the web, I haven't seen either of these used for bonsai. The snakebark could lead to some very unique and beautiful bark patterns on the trunks. I guess it's just a matter of seeing if the growth habits of these species are compatible with bonsai cultivation.
