Gonna get cold! already repotted

I'm not sure it's fair to say it was premature to repot, with how warm the weather was for how long it was and if the trees where calling for it. Seeing how you have the ability to regulate the temp in your shed, your pretty safe. Just will have to start the shuffle in a few weeks. This has got me realizing that I need a better way to regulate temperatures around this time of year. Either insulating my garage or turning the back porch into a 3 season room.
I feel you.
Definitely missed the ideal window on many of my deciduous.
I do have a temp regulated cold frame in the garage with lights. But since it was full I couldn’t repot many this year that leafed out early in this crazy weather.

I feel the same way. The trees were opening so I repotted. Spent much of the day yesterday putting them all back into the mulch pile and mulching them over. Many are in large grow boxes that must weight over 50 lbs all in.

As I (slowly) find my way in bonsai and how I want to develop trees, the bonsai shuffle is playing a role. I simply don't have the time or energy to move so many of these massive grow boxes in and out every day. If the mulch pile works, all is well. But if not, I will shift to more manageable sized pots going forward so that I can shuffle easier.

Small greenhouse can be very useful for early repotting, easy to use a small heater to prevent freezing temps. The frost setting limits the power usage which is a nice economical setting for early spring and late fall bonsai work. Both times when I like to get extra repotting done within a certain timeframe. I bought this one from a dealer iin your neck of the woods last fall.

May ask what heater you’re using?
I may have to get one for my greenhouse next year. Only problem is that I’d have to run a long power cord.

I have mine on a 50 foot cord. (heavier duty construction to reduce power loss)
the Heater is called a Palram-Canopia heater wirh a digital thermostatic controller unit included. Picture below. it was new in the fall so only one year so far but it worked very well. I set the controller to only maintain a minimum of 5 degrees celsius and it did so. I purchased the kit including greenhouse and heater fan unit from " Canada Greenhouse Kits" when they went on sale in the late fall. If you check out the websiteView attachment Palram_Greenhouses_Accessories_Portable_Fan_Heater_Digital_Thermostat_NA_CutOut_01_1df9d2cc-c...webp you can access further details on the equipment.

Thank you for the info!
OK, Yeah, I’m gonna do this next year.

The greenhouse has been wonderful, but doesn’t protect from those real cold vulnerable nights around this time of year.
